FROM A REPORTER

SHILLONG, Oct 23: Neuroscientists from intertiol, tiol and regiol levels took part in ANEICON 2016, the annual conference of the Association of Neuroscientist of Eastern India on Sunday here. The conference was organised by the Neurological Society of Meghalaya.

During the two-day conference, there were intense discussions and exchange of knowledge on various neurological conditions including traumatic brain injury, neuro critical care, strokes and brain infections to me a few. The sharing of knowledge was indeed very beneficial to almost 200 neuroscientists who attended the conference. Dr Werlok Kharshïing, proprietor and medical superintendent of Woodland Hospital, graced the iugural and cultural function of the conference as chief guest.

Addressing the neuroscientists, Dr Kharshïing expressed pleasure at the fact that for the first time ever, a major neurological conference of this magnitude was being held in Shillong. He pointed out to the fact that neurological care started late in the North-east in general and Meghalaya in particular. He said neurosurgical care began only in 2006 with the coming of Dr Berrd T Lyngdoh to Woodland Hospital.
