GUWAHATI, Oct 14: Fresh from their huge victory against Rajasthan, a confident look Assam are ready to face Odisha in their first away game of this season Ranji trophy Cricket championship. The match will begin tomorrow at the Barabati stadium in Cuttack.
Visitors, who earned crucial 3 points against defending champion Kartaka on the first game and later collected another 7 points from Rajasthan, are now sit on the top of Group A with 10 points. On the other hand Odisha, which have only two points in their kitty from same number of matches, are now in seventh position in point table..
KB Arun Karthik have been in great form this season and the batsman already scored two centuries in previous two games. Assam would definitely want another big innings from him in this game. The most important factor in this season Assam batting is that some other batsman of the team too showed good touch which helped the team to put descent total on the board
Like batsmen, the bowlers of Assam too are performing consistently in this season. Medium pacer Krish Das bowled magnificently in the last game and picked up 10 wickets while his new ball partner Arup Das too was accurate on his length. Assam included all rounder Dhiraj Goswami in the squad for this game and if he comes into the fil XI than Dhiraj too can contributed with new ball which will be added advantage for the team. On the other hand Syed Mohammad and Swarupa Purkayastha too become difficult to handle if Odisha decide to play on the turning wicket
Meanwhile Odisha conceded first innings lead in their earlier two games against Vidarbha and Maharashtra. Except for Govind Poddar, who already scored a century this season, and to some extent Pratik Das none of the other batsmen are successful to perform as per the expectation. The side have problem in the bowling too as in both the games they failed to give first innings lead to the team
