Conflict between two factions of AKRSU intensifies

From our Correspondent

Bongaigaon, February 16: “To help the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) in upcoming BTAD election, Biswajit Ray made a secret deal with Hagrama Mohilary and Chandan Brahma,” alleged Pradip Barman, president of All Koch Rajbanshi Students’ Union (AKRSU) (Hiteswar Barman faction), Dhaligaon Anchalik Committee on Monday. He said that Biswajit Ray, president of AKRSU-B was a selfish person.

The conflict between the two factions of AKRSU seems to be getting intense ahead of the BTAD polls.  The BTAD area, where a major portion of voters is from Koch-Rajbanshi community, has become a field for political game for both the factions of AKRSU. The AKRSU-H had supported ba Saraniya in last Lok Sabha election and has already tied up with Sariya’s Ga Bikash Parishad party. On the other hand, Biswajit Ray, who is the president of the other faction of AKRSU, declared recently that candidates from his faction would contest in the BTAD polls. Now the cracks between the two factions are becoming more visible after both factions have started indulging in mud-slinging.

Pradip Barman, in a press release issued on Monday, said that Biswajit Ray was ‘an agent’ of Hagrama Mohilary. “He never worked for Koch-Rajbanshi community. Making candidates from AKRSU-B fight in the BTAD polls proves that they are doing so only to divide the non-Bodo votes and to help Mohilary’s  party win. Hence we appeal to all Koch-Rajbanshi people of BTAD not to get influenced by this organization,” said Barman.
