Cong MLAs not happy with reshuffle refusal by CM

FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT

IMPHAL, January 21: The Congress MLAs have decided not to attend any meeting of the Congress legislature party. This is in protest against the refusal by the Chief Minister to reshuffle the ministry so that some of them could be inducted.

In the 60 member House, the Chief Minister is allowed to have a council of 12 ministers. Chief Minister Okram Ibobi is in his third innings now. He had assured those who missed the bus that after two and half years, he would reshuffle the ministry to induct new faces.  However, when the dissidents reminded him of it, he escaped on the pretext of the Winter Session.

Besides, there are political troubles in galand and Assam, and these Congress MLAs have started flexing their muscles. It is not exactly known what these dissidents will do.

As far as the Chief Minister is concerned, he is happy with the status quo. There are certain constituencies which must be represented in the council of ministries.

Besides, he may feel that the MLAs are not up to the mark. But then, he is not happy with some ministers. On some occasions, he had publicly chided some ministers for their sluggish performances.  Meanwhile, the ministers have joined hands for their common cause. It remains to be seen whether the dissidents can make their presence felt in the coming days.
