Congress activists burn Himanta's effigy

GAURISAGAR, August 25 : Activists of Gaurisagar Block Congress Committee on Tuesday  burnt the effigy of former Minister Himanta Biswa Sarmah for alleged disrespecting Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chairman and Amguri  MLA,  Anjan Dutta. Sarmah, who recently announced his decision to the join the BJP, allegedly ridiculed  Anjan Dutta on Monday before the print and electronic media. The activists of Gaurisagar Block Congress,Youth Congress, NSUI, Mahila Congress and Sewa Dal assembled at Gaurisagar Tiniali and burnt the effigy of Himata  Biswa Sarmah. In a press release issued by Suren Borah, general secretary of Gaurisagar Block Congress Committee, he said that in the last Lok Sabha polls, the Congress candidate had won by a margin of 10,000 votes from Amguri LAC whereas in Jalukbari LAC, the contesting candidate was defeated by a margin of 10,000 votes. So Sarmah should not make a mockery of Anjan Dutta.
