Congress activists protest against demolition of freedom fighter's statue

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), June 1: The activists of Golaghat district Congress Committee carried out a protest rally on Thursday against the demolition of the Biplobi Veer Sankar Baruah statue and gheraoed the Golaghat police station for failing to b culprits who were involved in the incident.

Polash Tamuly, general secretary of Golaghat district Congress committee, said that vested interest persons had allegedly demolished the statue of freedom fighter Sankar Baruah on May 29 night. A similar incident had taken place on February 13 where the miscreants were targeting to destroy the statue. They alleged that Golaghat Police had not paid attention to the matter. The protesters demanded immediate arrest of the culprits who were involved in the act.
