Congress activists take out protest rally in Goalpara

Goalpara, September 28: Based upon two vital issues against the BJP-led Central Government, a rally was taken out in Goalpara on Monday by the district Congress.

Taken out from Khagendrath Bhavan, the Congress office, the rally passed through the main streets of the town.  Abu Sayed, president DCC and other district leaders like Nilambar Patowary, ABS Jotder, Abul Kalam Hussain, Amzad Ali, AK Rasid led the rally from the front.

Later, the Congress activists submitted two memoranda at the office of the Deputy Commissioner which were addressed to the Prime Minister.  The first memorandum vehemently criticized the discontinuation of the postal stamps issued in memory of former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. “It is nothing but the political vindictiveness of the BJP government,” stated the memorandum. The second memorandum demanded the implementation of the tiol Food Security Act in Assam. It also strongly protested the delay on the part of the Central Government in assisting the State in implementing this poverty alleviation programme. The rally was also participated by local leaders like Surya Saha, Sufiqul Ahmed, Bhaba th, Ranjit Das and Nur Sahin.
