Congress and BJP resolve to solve erosion along Singerband

Silchar, July 6: The incessant rains and overflowing of water of Barak River at Singerband has eroded 6 to 7 houses and destroyed PWD Road of that area. Roads users have been compelled to use an indirect route Kaptanpur-Rupaibali for reaching Lakhipur. All communication has been cut off. Residents of that area have been suffering from this problem for ages. On Sunday last, MP Sushmita Dev and MLA Rajdeep Goala along with district Congress president Pradip Kumar Dey and Lakhipur Block Congress president Hareshwar Dubey visited the affected area. They said that Rs.11 crores was sanctioned from the DoNER Minister during the Congress regime. Since BJP came into power, the work has been left undone. They assured that immediate action would be taken in order to solve the serious problem.

 On behalf of the residents of Singerband, Ch Mohan Singh, dia Chand Singha, U Chouba Singh, P Rajendra Singh, Gopal Singh among others urged upon the MP and the MLA to do something at the earliest. Not only Congressmen, Ranjit Das, state president and Bishwaroop Bhattacharjee, state vice president of BJP along with senior BJP leader advocate Ri Singh paid a visit to Singerband on last Tuesday. They were told that Rs.11 crores was sanctioned during the Congress rule but no steps have been taken to solve the problem. Both Ranjit Das and Bishwaroop Bhattacharjee have assured that they would be soon discussing the matter with the DoNER Minister. Among other BJP leaders who accompanied them were advocate Sanjay Thakur, Thoiba Singh, Abhiram Sharma, Abhindra Das and Mukesh Pandey.
