Congress approves Takam Pario as Arunachal’s CLP leader

Itanagar: Congress president Rahul Gandhi has approved the name of Takam Pario, the party MLA from Palin constituency in Kra Daadi district of Arunachal Pradesh as the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader of the state. The appointment letter, signed by AICC general secretary Ashok Ghelot said here on on Wednesday.

The Congress has three members in the 60-member state legislative assembly, besides 48 BJP members, seven National People’s Party (NPP) and two independents. Pario, who was earlier People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) Legislature Party leader, informed over telephone from New Delhi that the Congress was instrumental in converting North East Frontier Agency (NEFA) to union territory in 1972 and granted statehood in 1987. “Congress has served the state for longest period since it graduated to parliamentary democracy in 1975,” he said. “I will serve to the best of my capacity to meet the expectation of the masses with such responsibility entrusted on me by party president,” Pario added.
