Congress attacks BJP over 'duped' promises

ITAGAR, Feb 14: Aruchal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Takam Sanjoy has questioned as to why Special Category State status granted to Aruchal Pradesh like galand and Mizoram under Article 371(H) by former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi has been withdrawn.
“Prime Minister rendra Modi will certainly announce numerous sops the way he had announced while attending the Statehood Day celebration here in 2015, which will again amount to empty vessel sounds much, proved by his alleged false announcements in Bihar and Andhra Pradesh,” Sanjoy said in a statement here.
“He will be giving 'lip service' this time too as Budget for 2018-19 has already been presented,” stated Sanjoy.
He said after becoming PM, Modi gave the "greatest slap" to North East India by withdrawing the 'North East Industrial & Investment Promotion Policy' offering Central capital investment subsidy of 30% to investors and other subsidies, including PDS, particularly by withdrawing the 'Special Category State' status of this sensitive border State of Aruchal Pradesh, thereby putting its development "at stake".
Accusing the Central Government of misusing Central agencies like CBI and IT Enforcement Department even in Aruchal to reportedly harass the people, Sanjoy asked the Modi Government to stop such "unwanted harassment of straight forward and honest Aruchalees”.
Highlighting various "anti-people" polices of the State’s ruling Government led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, he said that the ambitious CM’s 'Universal Insurance Scheme', launched by Congress CM bam Tuki had reportedly benefitted about 2,25,128 households by offering cashless treatment up to Rs 2 lakh in hospitals empanelled across the country to win tiol-level Koch Award on September 25, 2015. “But surprisingly, it was discontinued in 2017,” Sanjoy rued.
“The prestigious Central institute, NERIST, is without a permanent director since 2013 while NIT is in the doldrums as release of its payments, including outstanding has been halted. The Khandu Government talks of priority to road, air and telecommunication, but construction of the 'Trans-Aruchal Highway', a gift of UPA PM Dr Manmohan Singh, is moving at sil’s pace. The 'Potin-Pangin stretch', surrendered by NHIDC has been delayed for long which has evoked strong criticism. No one knows the status of the 'Itagar Greenfield Airport' as the State Government has been claiming that the land owners are unwilling to part with their land,” the APCC chief claimed.
