Congress confident of forming government

 FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

SILCHAR, April 16: “Dilip Kumar Paul’s own party members were opposing him at the time of election. I do not think he will win,” said Kishore Bhattacharjee, general secretary, Silchar District Congress Committee, speaking to The Sentinel, at Indira Bhawan here today. His statement reflects how keenly he has observed the assembly elections. “Not only in Silchar, in all the constituencies, Congress will emerge victorious. BJP’s performance as a party claiming to be the champion of masses has failed to live up to their expectations,” he said.

He further said Bithika Dev, Congress candidate, has done many things for the uplift of people and helped everyone who has approached her. He said that her family members also have served the people. Congress has been in power for a long time and the contributions of Sontosh Mohan Dev, former union minister and ex MP, and his daughter Sushmita Dev, MP, too are working for the betterment of people. “Congress is having strong hold in the hearts of the people. The party has built up a strong vote-bank,” pointed out Kishore Bhattacharjee. He mentioned it in particular that Congress is the only party which has been serving the people and focusing on development since its inception.

Speaking about the party’s prospect in other constituencies, he said that Congress is not thinking about losing the election, instead, the party is busy calculating the margin of their win in all the constituencies. In all the seven constituencies of Cachar, ‘our party will have the last laugh’. “Though, in some constituencies, Congress will face a tough challenge due to the presence of AIUDF and BJP,” said Bhattacharjee. The party banks upon some of its candidates who are sure of a win and can be said to be winner even before the declaration of the results. Amul Haque Laskar and Rajdeep Goala, who contested from Soi and Lakhipur, will have easy sailing.

Though in some circles, speculations have been afloat about the prospect of Dr. Rumi th, party candidate from Borkhola, he was confident she would give a befitting reply to those who have pointed fingers at her persol life. People count on the party since Congress is capable of delivering things. In his fil alysis, Kishore Bhattacharjee said, “We are not worried about Dilip Kumar Paul. How can he win when his own party workers deserted him? They were opposing him and literally worked for Congress.”

If crack on the walls of BJP, as pointed out by Kishore Bhattacharjee, develops, Congress will indeed register victory with a huge margin. He ended with the interview with a smile which reflected his confidence in his party workers and activists on the ground. He said, “We are eagerly waiting for May 19.”
