Congress demands CBI probe into chit fund scandal in Tripura

Agartala, April 22: Though Rickety by large–scale betrayal and desertion the enthusiastic Congress workers is continuing their ‘long march’ ignoring the inclement weather to highlight their 12–point charter of demands including a CBI investigation over the Chit Fund scandal. The marchers started their journey from two furthest ends of the state, the northern most sub–division Dharmagar and the Southernmost sub–division Subroom on April 18. Both the groups will cover nearly 200 KM to be culmited at Gandhi Ghat in Agartala on April 25 where a central rally will be organized to be addressed by senor leaders.

The Long March from Dharmagar is being organized by the Congress Seva Dal while the other from Subroom is jointly by Youth Congress and the NSUI.

The TPCC president Birajit Sinha said the young marchers are determined to complete their mission despite bad weather and is marching ahead despite drenched by rain water. Some places they have to traverse through knee deep waters. He said number of marchers is increasing as the Long March is proceeding and they are being accorded hearty reception by the local people at various points. Meetings are also being organized in their halting points and senior Congress leaders are addressing the meetings. Sinha said apart from CBI investigation over Chit Fund scandal the charter of demands includes compensation to the Chit Fund victims, unemployment allowance for the unemployed youths, total waver of agricultural lone etc.
