'Congress failed to fulfill people’s aspirations'

SHILLONG, Oct14: NPP president and Tura MP Conrad K Sangma on Saturday said that Chief Minister Mukul Sangma-led State Government has failed to fulfill the aspiration of the people of the State.
Addressing a meeting of the block committee at Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills, Sangma said, “The state government has failed to fulfill the aspiration of the people of Meghalaya and Garo Hills in particular. The government makes hollow claims but the reality is all before our eyes to see. We have to ensure that in the next year’s election, we would choose a party, which will not make only promises but would deliver.”
Regarding the poor condition of Tikrikilla – Phulbari – Rajabala – Garobadha road, the Tura MP said, “We will pursue with the Central government to declare the road as tiol Highway, so that the people would benefit from good road communication. In failure of a good road link, the people of the plain belt have to suffer and administrative delivery and functioning of government offices becomes difficult”, he added.
The meeting was convened to mobilize the party workers in the run-up to the 2018 election and sensitised the people on how Congress led government has failed to fulfill the promises to the electorates.
Prominent leaders who attended the meeting including Former Minister Manirul Islam Sarkar, MDC Augustine Marak and a host of district and block leaders.
He said that NPP is committed for the welfare of the people of the region and would engage with centre to derive maximum benefits for the people of Meghalaya, so that the wave of development reach out to different nooks and conner of the State.
