Congress focuses on development, BJP believes in divisive politics:Gaurav

From a Correspondent

JORHAT, Jan 5: “Congress focuses on development whereas BJP advocates divisive ideology,” said Koliabar MP Gaurav Gogoi while taking part in a free computer centre iuguration at the Mobondha tea garden under Koliabar constituency of Jorhat district on Tuesday. Notably, the computer education centre consisting of 10 computers each at both Mobondha and Changshuwa tea gardens, totaling 20, has been set up through the MP’s persol funds in a bid to provide computer education to the otherwise under developed and under privileged tea garden students.

Talking to The Sentinel, MP Gaurav Gogoi said, “Today’s programme included iugurating two free computer education centres, one at Mobondha and the other at Changshuwa, which are remote areas.  The poor people, especially from the tea community, have traditiolly been disadvantaged but a lot of young people of the new generation are extremely educated, smart and intelligent but they do not have the resources. This has always been the guiding factor of the Congress government in Assam to make sure that everybody has access to the same resources.”

“Based on the concept a public meeting was held few months ago where we decided to start a computer training institute and accordingly have set up 10 computers here at Mobondha which will be maged by the local committee of guardians, parents, teachers and students. The committee will decide what kind of course fits the students most. I as an MP am honoured to see the kind of initiative they have taken and I am happy to have been a small part to it. Funds have been raised and this does not include fund from any government scheme,” said Gogoi.

MP Gaurav Gogoi’s main thrust in his constituency has been on education and sources have disclosed about the MP providing Rs 1 lakh each to several schools in order to build a modern kitchen thus ebling cooking of mid-day meal in a healthy manner and also teaching the students of those schools about organic food and organic farming so that the students know about safe and nutritious food besides learning safe practices of farming.

Earlier the MP reiterated about the Congress government’s stand on development. He said, “It is for the people of Assam to choose what they want. Whether development or division because Congress focuses on development but unfortutely in the last one-and- half years we have seen that the BJP ideology is a divisive ideology. I very strongly feel that given the fact that so much work has been done, the people will repose their faith on development and the Congress will be able to form its fourth term government in Assam.”

Also present in today’s meeting were ATTSA president ndalal Bawri, Assam Pradesh Congress secretary Jayanta Hazarika and Dadul Tai respectively, besides noted social worker Bani Hazarika, president of Dergaon Zuba Congress, Nilotpal Bora and Assam State NSUI president Manoj Hazarika.
