KOKRAJHAR, March 16: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) spokesperson Apurba Bhattacharjee on Monday said that the party was fully prepared for the upcoming BTC polls.

Talking to media persons at a press meet held at Rajiv Bhavan in Kokrajhar, APCC spokesperson Apurba Bhattacharjee, who is campaigning in Kokrajhar, said that the party was making all preparations for the BTC election. He said the Congress as a first step was organizing a mass gathering on March 18 at Dwimalu field in Kokrajhar where Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and president of the APCC, Anjan Dutta along with senior leaders would take part.

Bhattacharjee said that the Congress party would emerge victorious in the polls.  He said, “We are participating in the BTC election wholeheartedly and fielding our own candidates.” He added that the present ruling party in BTC was not able to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the people and so the people were looking for a change. He also said that the Congress was for development, safety, security of the people and the party wanted equal participation of the people irrespective of caste, creed and religion in development process. Replying to the question if the in-fighting in the party among top leaders would have any impact in the BTC election,  Bhattacharjee said the new APCC president Anjan Dutta was strict about discipline in the party and if anyone was found indulging in anti-party activities, they would be dealt with firm hands. So there should not be any impact in the BTC election, he said.
