Congress gears up for by-election to Lakhimpur LS constituency

DHEMAJI, October 19: After the declaration of date for by-election to the Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituency, different political parties have geared up for election campaign. The Congress party has prepared its election strategy to regain the Lakhimpur parliamentary seat. A high-level meeting of Congress workers was held on Tuesday at the Silapathar Public Auditorium to prepare the strategy for the upcoming by-election to the Lakhimpur LS seat. The meeting was organized by the Sissiborgaon Block Congress Committee and Silapathar Block Congress Committee. The meeting was presided over by Bhaskar Duwara, president of Sissi Block Congress. State Congress spokesperson Apurba Bhattacharya was present in the meeting and he appealed to all the Congress workers to make all possible afforts for regaining the LS seat from Lakhimpur constituency at any cost. Tanka Bahadur Rai, former Speaker of the Assam Assembly, Congress women unit, Youth Congress, Panchayat-level Congress presidents, APCC secretary Sushil Pegu, Tilok Phukan, Adhir Purkayastha, Silapathar Town Block Congress  president Rongmon Misong and Lakhimpur Youth Congress president Ranoj Pegu took active part in the  discussion.
