Congress holds LAC meeting in Goalpara

Goalpara, October 23: The Goalpara District Congress Committee (DCC) on Sunday arranged a Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) meeting for its workers of the 37, Goalpara East LAC.

Presided over by Alhaj Abu Sayed, president DCC, the meeting thoroughly discussed the issues relating to the ill-governce of both the Central and State governments. In his opening speech, Alhaj Abu Sayed appealed to the Congress workers to undertake a survey on the promises made during the last parliamentary election by BJP and how far the government fulfilled those promises.

In the meeting, former AIUDF MLA Monower Hussain spoke at length about the ‘hollowness’ of the Badaruddin Ajmal-led political party.  He also detailed his journey from a founder member of SUCI to AIUDF and to Indian tiol Congress. Hussain also assured the DCC to bring hundreds of AIUDF workers to Congress.

On the other hand, speaking in the same meeting, AK Rasid Alom, MLA of Goalpara East, termed Ajmal’s party as a business party and alleged that Ajmal’s company had received benefit of Rs 40 crore from the Central Government as tax rebate. He further alleged that Ajmal was controlled by State Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and that in last assembly elections, AIUDF tickets were given as per the advice of  Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Lutfur Rahman, secretary APCC, Indira Medhi, vice-president of DCC, Sahabuddin Ahmed, general secretary, Mujaffar Ali, treasurer, Osman Ali and Sayaram Rava, block presidents and many others spoke on the occasion.
