Congress holds Prabancha Virodhi Divas at Biswath

Biswath Chariali, June 18: “The rendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre and the Sarbanda Sonowal government in the State have failed on all fronts and they have deceived the common man to the highest point,” said former minister and Congress leader Rakibul Hussain at Bipani tya Mandir here on Saturday. He was taking part in the Prabancha Virodhi Divas held by Biswath District Congress Committee with Kamal Saikia in the chair.

Criticizing sharply the BJP governments, Hussein added that they had hit a big blow to the farmers by hiking the revenue of land while at the same time the government was silent on the development of agriculture sector in the country. Participating in the meeting as the chief guest, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief Ripun Borah said that the voters had now been able to understand the deceptive attitude of the BJP government and the people would give a suitable reply in the Lok Sabha election to be held in 2019 and assembly election in the State in 2021.

“The Bharatiya Jata Party will be floated in the River Brahmaputra in the next election by the people of Assam,” he remarked. The meeting was also attended by Congress leaders Ra Goswami, Apurva Kumar Bhattacharya, Manika Borah and others.
