Congress inciting commul tension in Barak Valley'

Special Correspondent

SILCHAR, Oct 8: Alarmed at the Hindus rallying round BJP, a worried Congress in order to consolidate Muslim votes in its favour has become dependent on fundamentalists who have become active. As a corollary to it, all the unfortute and unwanted incidents are taking place in Barak Valley. Shipra Goon, BJP leader of Karimganj, alleged in a face to face meet recently with Union Home Minister Rajth Singh in New Delhi. She apprised him of the recent events rocking the valley.

She in particular referred to the re-induction of Siddique Ahmed as minister which is not a good omen for the sensitive region. It was to keep the fundamentalists in his grip for the coming Assembly elections of 2016 that Tarun Gogoi has again taken him in his ministry. The places of worship are being defiled and the police under the pressure of Congress is siding with the commul forces. This has posed a threat to the security of the valley as a whole. She impressed upon the Union Home Minister to constantly monitor the developments and take necessary preemptive measures.

The evil design of fundamentalists and their progenitor has to be defeated, Shipra Goon told Rajth Singh. The Union Home Minister is well aware of all the incidents that happened in Silchar and other places and assured her that the Centre would act accordingly if the situation demanded. She also urged upon him to have a tab on the border district of Karimganj, once infamous as the corridor of fundamentalist elements from that side of the border.

The ministers and MLAs have established a sort of jungle-raj in Karimganj district and the police stations are being controlled by them. The police has lost all the confidence and courage to act independently. She also brought to his notice a surreptitious design to create a situation in order to spread panic and fear among the Hindus in the borderline areas and force them to leave their villages. The incidents of extortions, dacoities as well as kidppings have risen in interior and isolated places targeting the Hindus.

The people living in constant fear however have mustered courage to face all these odds and threats created by the miscreants. The Union Home Minister listened to Shipra Goon with all patience and said his ministry has kept a close watch on the developments and advised the BJP leaders and workers to work in the interests of the party to meet the challenges. It is BJP alone, he said, that protects the interests of all without any sectarian attitude.

On the Notification issued by his Government for providing shelter and citizenship to the minorities of Pakistan and Bangladesh, Rajth Singh said necessary steps are being taken to introduce a Bill on the issue in the Parliament for giving legal sanction to it. He was also aware of the raging controversy over the Notification in Brahmaputra Valley. He however did not spell out the exact timing of the Bill, but it would require time to examine all the legal aspects to give it a concrete and complete shape.
