Congress is like Titachap timber, known for its high durability: Gogoi

Chief Minister iugurates Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Paki Path Achoni in Darrang district

MANGALDAI, December 1: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday iugurated Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Paki Path Achoni at a function held Hospital playground at Baruajhar under Dalgaon Revenue Circle in Darrang district.

Speaking on the occasion, Gogoi said, ""Don't use timber of unknown species of trees, use quality timber of Titachap which is strong and everlasting. The Congress is like Titachap timber known for its high durability so the people can easily rely on it. On the contrary, other political parties like AIUDF and BJP are timber of unknown species of trees without any quality."

Significantly in the area mostly domited by the people of religious minority community where the AIUDF occupied majority seats  in the last panchayat election, today's meeting was attended by an unprecedented gathering mostly from the religious minority community numbering  about 15,000. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi accompanied by his wife Dolly Gogoi and in presence of PWD Minister Ajanta Neog, Fisheries and Water Resource Minister Basanta Das and local legislator Illias Ali today ceremonially launched the construction of Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Poki Poth Nirman Achani to cover a total length of 319 kilometer of PWD rural roads in the State at the sanctioned amount of Rs 234.44 crore.

Under this novel project, 143 roads at the estimated cost of Rs 1.50 crore covering the total length of 2.23 km in each Legislative Assembly constituency of the State would the covered. In the function he laid the foundation of the construction of the Kharupetia-Udalguri (Via Kaziamati) PWD road under NLCPR at the estimated cost of Rs 27.12 crore. This important road with the shortest connectivity to Udalguri from Kharupetia was almost lying abandoned since several years. The Chief Minister also laid the foundation of the construction of the Besimari Market.

Immediately after his landing by an Air Force helicopter,  Chief Minister Gogoi in his speech said that the faith of the people of the State on the Congress was increasing day-by-day as the Congress had been working for the poor and the development of the villages was the development of the State. Referring to the ongoing ubated corruption and misappropriation of government funds in the AIUDF domited Darrang Zila Parishad, as alleged by the Dalgaon legislator Illias Ali in the open meeting, the Chief Minister announced a proper inquiry by the CM's Vigilance Cell soon.  Taking a serious note of the use of tractors, JCB and other mechanized instruments in the construction works under MGNREGA thereby depriving the job card holders, the Chief Minister instructed the Deputy Commissioner to take stringent action in this regard.

Significantly, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in his speech appreciated the spirit of Fisheries Minister Basanta Das for his achievements and also expressed satisfaction over the performance of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Darrang headed by Project Director Bibhash Modi. Earlier, the Chief Minister offered his respect to former President of India, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed and termed him as the symbol of commul harmony and unity of Assam. In 1961, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed and Moinul Hoque Chowdhury had visited the Kharupetia-Udalguri PWD road as the road was constructed as per sanction of Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed.
