Diphu, September 10: “A lot of developmental work has taken place and normalcy has returned since the Congress party came to power in the State,” said Avish Pandey, MP and AICC secretary while addressing a mammoth gathering on the occasion of the iuguration ceremony of Rangsi Sarpo and Dr Bhupen Hazarika open stage and park at Kollonga playground under Bithung Rengthama MAC constituency in Karbi Anglong on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Pandey said that the iuguration of open stage of Rangsi Sarpo and Dr Bhupen Hazarika would promote culture among different ethnic groups of the district as well as State.
Launching a scathing attack on the NDA government, Pandey said that this government was giving importance to the corporate sector only and farmers were being ignored. “This government has made only false promises to its people and their one year report card has proved this,” Pandey added. “Vyapam is one of the biggest scams of the country which has taken place during NDA regime,” he added.
State Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Rockybul Hussain said that the State Government had decided to construct an open stage in the me of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in every block of the State to pay tribute to the music maestro. Hussain assured the people that if the Congress came to power after the 2016 polls, all-round development would be seen in the State and in Karbi Anglong.
Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang, while addressing the gathering, said that the KAAC had the responsibility to make Karbi Anglong a developed district and the Congress party was committed to bring employment opportunity, social uplift, youth education, peace, prosperity, women empowerment and all-round development.
Ronghang also appealed to the party workers not to be influenced by the false propaganda of the Opposition party and to gear up for the forthcoming elections.
Dr Mansing Rongpi, MLA Baithalangso LAC, said that Karbi Anglong was the fort of the Congress party and despite all odds in the last elections, the Congress emerged victorious in the district.
