Congress legislator flays BJP

From Our Correspondent

Silchar, Feb 15: Mahila Congress Chief MP Sushmita Dev, at a labours’ meet held at Hatikuri tea estate under Binkandi Development Block on Sunday lambasted and severely criticized the BJP government on many grounds. “There are various discrepancies and loopholes in the workings of the government. The sanctioning of rice at the rate of Rs.3 per kg was a noble initiative taken and implemented during the Congress regime. The development, reconstruction, building, iuguration and laying of foundation stones of various projects related to roads and highways were actually done when Congress was in power,” said Sushmita Dev.

The MP said that the party has failed to live up to its promise and expectation. “The present government is just changing mes of the various schemes, plans, programmes, policies and projects which were already taken, done and implemented by the Congress government. Even the me of the late Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi’s Bidutikaran has been changed to Pt Deen Dayal Upadhaya, Indira Gandhi Awas Yoja to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojya and so on. Ministers and MLAs are taking bribes in the me of NRGS scheme. The results of the recent Rajasthan elections have upset the BJP. We are sure that the Congress is coming back to power in the next assembly elections,” Sushmita Dev added to say.

The MP also put forth her views regarding NRC. Sushmita Dev said, “It is unintelligible to understand that why NRC list is being brought out in phases. The list should have been out at the first instance only. If any genuine citizen were left out from the list, there would be violent eruptions of protests, movements and demonstrations. BJP is losing its popularity. The problem of ever swelling price rise is still persisting. Earlier, gas cylinders used to be around Rs.400. Now, it has been doubled. It was promised that Rs.15000 would be deposited into the accounts of those who apply for zero balance account. Till date, no such things have been done. This is really unfortute and saddening.

Addressing the huge gathering, MLA Rajdeep Goala said, “The scheme of Jan Dhan Mela is not benefitting all the labourers. Only tea garden labourers have been covered under this scheme. Moreover, Rs.5000 is being deposited in two phases and why not in one. All the works done in Lakhipur constituency has been done during the Congress regime. There cannot be any doubt regarding this. BJP practises politics based on religion. The days of BJP are soon coming to an end. Congress will form government both at the Centre and the State.

Earlier, Sushmita Dev doted Rs.6 lakh for Hatikuri tea community hall and along with Rajdeep Goala and district Congress president Pradip Kumar Dey, laid its foundation stone. Later, she went to Maachkhal Khasia Punjee village for a meeting which was presided over by Petros Lyngdoh. People from 4 villages, Ulloi Punjee, Arun Punjee, Kodomtila and Mohonbil attended the meeting. The villagers warmly welcomed both the MP and the MLA. Sushmita Dev doted Rs.4 lakh from MP fund towards the construction of a community hall at Maachkhal Khasia Punjee. The Khasias were extremely happy at her visit and expressed their gratefulness.
