Congress observes Black Day against demonetization

Dibrugarh, Nov 8: Indian tiol Congress and its various constituent bodies on Wednesday observed ‘Black Day’ and took out a procession in Dibrugarh town in denouncement of the demonetization move implemented by the ruling NDA government a year ago. Many people took part in the rally holding placards that highlighted the various inconveniences faced by the Indian citizens due to demonetization. While some of these placards indicated the economic hardships that the people were subjected to due to demonetization, the others expressed concerns over the current economic slowdown in the country due to both demonetization and implementation of GST. The procession that started from the Old Government High School Field also witnessed slogans disapproving the two policies adopted by the present Indian Government.

In a similar move, the Lengrai unit of CPI (M-L) observed tionwide Protest Day today and took to the streets to express criticism over the NDA government’s policies of demonetization, GST and Aadhar Card. Underscoring the problems of unemployment and price rise triggered by the government’s moves, the members and supporters of the political party tried to register their grievances in the public consciousness.

PATHSALA: Along with the rest of the country, the Bajali and Bhawanipur block Congress committees also observed Black Day on Wednesday.

 The Congress activists took out a protest procession from Azad Bhavan and moved through the Pathsala town area in protest against demonetization and GST. More than 400 members participated in the possession carrying banners.
