Congress opposes proposed capital complex bandh

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

Itagar, June 17: The JAC’s Capital bandh call for June 19 has evoked an angry response here from the state Congress calling it a “punishment to the people”.

Jan Andolan Committee, a wing of the BJP had called for a 12-hour bandh in the capital seeking the resigtion of chief minister bam Tuki beside demanding imposition of President’s Rule and implementation of fincial emergency.

The Aruchal Pradesh Congress Seva Dal chief Kipa Kaha today took a jibe at the BJP saying that the “jan andolan slogan is nice to listen but they (are) doing anti-jan andolan”.

Calling the move “unnecessary” and “meaningless”, Kaha said that the actions were being motivated by political agenda and are being done to mislead the people. He also warned that any breakdown of law and order will be blamed on the JAC.

The party’s youth wing also came down heavily on the BJP’s move. The Aruchal Pradesh Youth Congress spokesperson Niglar Veo said, “The move belies the BJP’s true intent and it is acting like a petty, unorganized pressure group.”

The APYC further said that the BJP must show evidence of their allegation instead of misleading the people with fancy figures and that the party has failed to be specific.

It also termed the bandh illegal and in violation of the Supreme Court’s order.
