Congress party promotes family politics: Himanta

From our Correspondent

Bongaigaon, April 5: “If Mahatma Gandhi had been alive today, then surely he would have joined the BJP,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday at a mass meeting held in Gandhi Field at Abhayapuri of Bongaigaon district.

He said that this would have happened just because of the family-based politics of the Congress. “You just look at the Congress party from Jawaharlal Nehru to Rahul Gandhi -total family politics. In Assam also look at the family politics Tarun Gogoi - Gaurav Gogoi, Anjan Dutta- Ankita Dutta, Ripun Bora- Monika Bora, Bharat rah-Rani rah and many more. In my view, Congress is not doing politics here, they are making a mega serial whose me will be ghar-sansar (family). Gandhi would have become fed up with this family politics drama of the present Congress leaders and would have joined the BJP,” he said.

Sarma was here to campaign for two AGP candidates, including Bhupen Ray of North Abhayapuri constituency and Rabin Banikya of South Abhayapuri constituency.

“Motto of each Congress leader is to do corruption and fill own pocket. That is why during appointment of third and fourth grade posts in Irrigation department, candidates were compelled to give bribe of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh. I am proud to say that I am not like them and hence I was compelled to come out of the Congress. During my tenure as Education Minister of Assam, I gave employment to 60,000 TET teachers. But no one can make allegation that he had paid a single paisa for this appointment. And that is the reason that other Congress leaders tried to throw me out from Congress so that they can indulge in corruption openly. They just played some political game by dividing people by caste, community and religion. And the BJP’s aim is to finish such leaders who are corrupt, who do politics of division and to make a corruption-free Assam where people will have not pay a single paisa for getting employment. I assure if we win, we will give more appointments and will provincialize all schools,” said the BJP leader.

“You can feel the difference of Congress and BJP yourself by noticing what they are giving to people. When BJP is giving better roadways at that time Congress is giving blankets, when BJP is giving Scooty to poor college girls then Congress is giving bicycles, when we talk about employment then they talk about distributing yarn. That is the difference between the ideology of BJP and Congress,” he said.

“This election is not a common election now. This is an election to save our own land, to save our identity. We want to create an Assam where nobody will fight in the me of caste, community and religion. On April 14, we will celebrate Bihu. And on May 19, the day of counting when both our candidates Bhupen Ray and Rabin Banikya will win, we will again celebrate Bihu here in this field on that day. In coming days, Rabin Banikya and Bhupen Ray will drive the car of development in these two constituencies and Sarbanda Sonowal and I will put fuel in this car for rapid development,” he said.
