'Congress playing divisive game on the basis of language'

 From a Correspondent

Silchar, Sept 2: “BJP vehemently and severely condemns and criticizes the statements of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and former President of Assam Congress Pradesh Ripun Bora regarding gaon incident. The Congress has always tried to divide the state of Assam on the basis of language. This time also, they are trying to give the incident a commul colour and are alluring the agitators to disturb the social harmony. The Congress leaders are trying to create a gap between Assamese and Bengali people,” said BJP state spokesperson Rajdeep Roy at a press-meet held at the premises of BJP office, Itkhola in Silchar on Thursday.
Rajdeep Roy further said that people should not pay heed to such statements. He stated that the Congress is trying to disturb peace and harmony by indulging in instigating people to treat the recent gaon incident as a commul one. Roy also spoke at length about the issue of ‘NOI’ and ‘OI’ and the Assam Accord. Taking a dig at the Congress, he said, “It is clear that the Congress is trying to destabilize, disrupt and disturb the peace and harmony of the state of Assam. I want that the Party should now clear its stand on the issues of citizenship. It is high time that something should be done in this regard.”
“Provision of citizenship is a subject matter of the Union Government as citizenship itself is a central subject to be dealt by the Union Ministers. Yet, it is taking so much time to arrive at a conclusion. BJP does not oppose the implementation of the Assam Accord, but only within its ambit. Moreover, the Accord is not a law yet. Both AGP and Congress have ruled the state for many years but they did not even try to solve these critical issues,” Roy added.
