Congress protests against LPG price hike

JOYSAGAR, March 6: Sivasagar district Congress committee on Monday staged a protest in front of the DC’s office and sent memoranda separately to the Prime Minister, Union Petroleum Minister and the Chief Minister of Assam, demanding rollback of the allotment of eight public sector oil fields to private companies. They also criticized the BJP-led government for its failure to control LPG price hike throughout the country and the price hike of other necessary items. Congress activists took out a protest rally earlier throughout the town and slammed the BJP governments at the Centre and the State for being ‘anti-people’ and ‘capitalist-friendly’.
