Shillong, March 5: The Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) led by President Richard M. Marak protested against the LPG price hike by the BJP led NDA government at Rongjeng, East Garo Hills, Meghalaya on Saturday.

Zenith M Sangma, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Taxation, Winnerson D Sangma, Chief Whip, Government of Meghalaya, Sengm M Marak, MLA, Rongjeng were also present.

The MPYC alleged that Prime Minister, rendra Modi first asks the citizens of the country to give up LPG cylinders. "Then his failure to control prices forces you back to subsidies and on March 1, 2017, the state-owned oil companies raised the price of non-subsidised LPG by Rs 86 per cylinder," an MPYC statement said. The Youth Congress has demanded immediate rollback of the price. The MPYC said that the sudden hike in the price of LPG is a big blow to the middle class households.

"Modi ji promised to control price rise before the elections. This is also one of his unfulfilled promises. The BJP will say anything during election campaigns. Why do BJP leaders always lie? Why can't they ever be honest? The people aren't fools," the MPYC president Richard Marak said.
