Congress protests against privatization of oil fields

MARGHERITA, March 7: Tinsukia District Congress Committee staged a two-hour dhar at the Tinsukia district Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday in protest against the BJP-led Central and State governments’ move to privatize oil fields of Assam. More than 500 Congress workers were present in the dhar and they shouted various slogans against Prime Minister rendra Modi and Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Former Forest Minister of Assam, Etuwa Munda, former Chabua constituency MLA Raju Sahu, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee secretary Numal Bora and Birinchi Neog, Tinsukia District Congress Committee president Jayanta Kalita were present. A memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister through the Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner.
