SHILLONG, June 1: A day after BJP leader lin Kohli dared the Meghalaya Congress Chief Minister Mukul Sangma for a debate on development issues, Assam Member of Parliament and AICC spokesperson Gaurav Gogoi stepped in to take on the challenge.

Gogoi was in Shillong on Thursday and during his address to newsmen at Congress Bhavan, he said, “I dare lin Kohli for a debate. If he has the guts, he can do a debate with me on the development of Meghalaya and the Northeastern region.”

Calling the BJP a political entity with ‘D’- to divide, destroy and destruct on the basis of religion, language and the culture, Gogoi said the BJP is up to a mission to impose a Hindutva Rashtra through the method of hypocrisy in the form of cow politics.

Touching on the Union government’s recent notification on the basis of the Act relating to prevention of cruelty to animals, the Congress MP from Assam retorted, “If that is so why are cow vigilantism, mobs entering homes and other incidents are taking place under the very eyes of the Union government,” adding, “The BJP is dethroning the economy with little care for the farmers.”

Meghalaya is getting ready for polls in 2018 and both the parties have blown the poll bugle.
