Congress set to form NC Hills council again

Haflong, Feb 4: Kulendra Daolagupu, MAC of N C Hills Autonomous Council on behalf of the  16 members belonging to Congress claimed on Wednesday  to form the council in the N C Hills Autonomous Council though there has been attempt to delay the process.

Daolagupu on Thursday addressing a press meet at the residence of Debo Prasad Hojai, MAC here, said that on January 12 all the 16 MACs met the Governor to inform that the present Chief Executive Member (CEM) of NCHAC Niranjan Hojai has lost the confidence of majority and to arrange a session wherein they can move no confidence against the present CEM. Accordingly the Governor of Assam had directed the Chairman to summon emergent session on January 29 last but on the eve of the session, the then Chairman Subrata Thaosen resigned following which a new Chairman was to be elected, he said. On February 3 Ngamrothang Hmar was elected as the new Chairman unopposed as none from BJP contested.

After persuasion, February 5 was fixed to move the no confidence against the present CEM, Hojai.  Debojeet Thaosen, former Chief Executive Member of NCHAC said CEM Niranjan Hojai has lost moral right to continue as the CEM of NCHAC. “They have done massive irregularities in the process of recent appointments. We will initiate impartial enquiry in to the irregularities after assuming the office.

Meanwhile, Hamjan Langthasa, former BJP district president and also a former EM of NCHAC while talking to the media informed that he has already resigned from the party membership on Thursday. Expressing concern over the deteriorating political situation, he held the state BJP leadership especially former president Sidhartha Bhattacharjee responsible for the deterioration of BJP’s political future in the district.
