Congress slams BJP government over demonetization

Goalpara, Dec 28: The Goalpara District Congress (DCC) on Wednesday observed the foundation day of Indian tiol Congress at Gandhi Bhavan in the town.

Presided over by Alhaj Abu Sayed, president DCC, the programme began with the hoisting of party flag and paying tribute to the martyrs. Later, State leaders like Parashuram Dubey  and Abdul Latif vehemently criticized the BJP-led Central Government and its demonetization policy. “The demonetization has spared the rich and ruined the poor and downtrodden,” remarked Dubey.

Speaking on the occasion, Amzad Ali, vice-president of DCC, said that AIUDF supremo and Dhubri HPC representative, Badruddin Ajmal play truant every time when the minority people needed him most. AK Rasid Alom, MLA, East Goalpara also spoke on the occasion and gave details of the utilization of area development fund.

 Indira Medhi, former Zila Parishad chairperson, and Abdus Samad Sarker, chairman, minority cell, also addressed the gathering. Maleka Khatun, chairperson, ZPC,  Mujaffar  Ali, treasurer, Taijuddin Ahmed, secretary DCC, youth leaders Chandan Kalita and Taj Alom were also present.
