Congress slams government over galim pact

JOYSAGAR, Oct 29: Sivasagar District Congress committee held a press meet on Saturday where zira MLA and leader of Opposition in the Assam Assembly, Debabrata Saikia firmly opposed the proposed NSCN-Centre framework pact on galim as this would affect Assam’s geographical unity and integrity.

 “Congress does not support such move of the government as neither the Central Government nor Assam Government held any formal discussion with organizations and political parties before taking such a big decision,” Saikia alleged.

District Congress president Sushanta Borgohain, Sivasagar MLA Prab Gogoi and many Congress leaders also took part in the press meet and expressed their displeasure over the said galim pact. They also sharply criticized the weak role of the Sarbanda Sonowal government on this issue.
