Congress stages protest against gaon Municipal Board

GAON, Jan 7: Congress workers under gaon municipality area on Thursday staged a protest in front of the gaon Municipal Board office.

Congress workers led by Congress MLA Durlov Chamua slammed the BJP controlled gaon Municipal Board for alleged failure to utilize the municipality funds. MLA Chamua alleged that the Board had received Rs. 18,65,89,904 under NLCP scheme out of which Rs. 6,00,00,000 had already been distributed. “But the remaining amount has been kept blocked by the Board chairman.  In addition to this, other funds for development of roads and sewerage, entry tax fund, VDP fund, all are available with the Board but it is not utilizing those funds,” alleged Dr Chamua. It was also alleged that the chairman of the Board had not called executive meeting of the ward commissioners which was the violation of rule 43 of Municipality Act.

More than 2000 Congress activists led by Dr Chamua surrounded the office of the gaon Municipal Board and demanded resigtion of the chairman. The agitators also submitted a memorandum including various charters of demands to the gaon Deputy Commissioner.
