Congress submits memorandum to Cachar DC

SILCHAR, Sept 16: In a bid to contain the alarming price rise of essential commodities, immediate construction and repair works of wretched road conditions and allocation of adequate fincial help to the flood affected farmers of the district, Silchar district Congress committee has submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar today. In the representation, Karnendu Bhattacharjee, president, Silchar District Congress Committee, has urged upon him to intervene into the matters to lessen the difficulties and woes being faced by the common people of the district.

 The memorandum highlighted issue of abnormal price rise of the essential commodities adding to the hardship of the poor and common people while the hike in freight charges, service taxes and VAT have already made their day to day living miserable. It was brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner that a section of corrupt businessmen taking advantage of the situation have been trading the essential commodities charging higher than the government specified rates. The memorandum impressed upon him to take effective measures to stop black marketing and hoarding by the traders which would check price rice.
