Congress tarnishing BJP’s image via social media: Khongwir

SHILLONG, June 24: The State Unit of the Bharatiya Jata Party (BJP) has accused the Congress of using the social media to tarnish the image of the party. 
Citing the latest episode where the Balachanda MDC and president of Minority Morcha Sofiur Rehman is reported to have post inflammatory and commully coloured post on his facebook account, the general secretary of the BJP Banshailang Khongwir categorically stated on Saturday that a fake facebook account in the me of Sofiur Rehman has been created by political rivals to malign the image of the party. 
“We have it in the past that motivated, malicious and absolutely false post on the social media are deliberately being put by some vested interest to defame the party,” stated Khongwir.
The MDC who was by the side of the state party leadership during a press conference here said, “I have no knowledge about the post and I have already lodged an FIR with the police and hopefully the culprits will be arrested soon”. 
However, it’s the BJP state spokesperson who directly accused the Congress of indulging in such mischief. “Our opponent, I mean the Congress has planted a group in our party. These planted groups of people who left the party are responsible for such campaign on the social media.”
‘These are happening in galand and Mizoram and we will definitely take on such malicious campaigners,” Basu added. 
While the case related to Rofiur Rehman is said to have been forwarded to the cyber cell of the State police, Rofuir Rehman stated that he has full faith in the state police investigation with a hope to b the purported impersote individual. 
“However, if they failed we will not hesitate to move the Centre,” Rehman added.
The BJP state leadership will also meet the Director General of Police to apprise about the developments that has maligned the party.
