Congress to filise list, calls party poll meet

SHILLONG, Dec 28: The Election Committee of the Congress party will meet soon to filise the mes of the candidates for the upcoming Assembly polls.

Congress spokesperson and a member of the Election Committee,   Ronnie V Lyngdoh said that the Election committee   which has already been notified would meet after the holidays to take a call on the mes of the  candidates.

The Congress has already asserted that it would contest the elections on all the 60 seats.

It may be mentioned that the party has already distributed the applications for the candidates who are willing to contest the elections on a Congress ticket.

The Congress has received multiple applications for poll ticket in several constituencies and more than 100 forms were  issued and the process started on August 31.

It is learnt that the retired government official Jopthiaw Lyngdoh has applied from rtiang, currently represented by Congress legislator Sniawbhalang Dhar.

Also the son of former chief minister late EK Mawlong, George Lyngdoh, has taken form for Umroi constituency.

In addition, five independent MLAs are also set to contest the upcoming polls on a Congress ticket.
