Congress trying hard to restore its position in Tripura

From A Correspondent

Agartala, April 28: Though dissemited into a margil force due to repeated defeat in elections and large scale desertions the Congress in Tripura is trying hard to retain its position as a force to reckon with.

In a bid to boost the morale of the party workers the Pradesh Congress Committee is meeting in different sub-divisions rotatiolly every month and also organizing workers meetings.

The latest such meeting is being held in Dharmagar, the northern most sub-division of the state. Though the party MLA from Dharmagar constituency Biswa Bandhu Sen switched over to Trimool Congress, a good number of party workers are attending the meeting.

The Pradesh Congress president Birajit Sinha said some leaders have betrayed but workers did not approve their actions. Attendance of good number of party workers in all sub-divisiol meetings is a clear message to them.

He also refused to accept the notion that the Congress has dissemited into a margil force. He admitted that the party suffered a setback but expressed confidence that it will revive its strength before the next assembly election scheduled to be held early next year.

MLA Gopal Roy and senior party leaders Hare Krish Bhowmik, Jyotirmoy th, Kalidas Datta, Md Badrujjaman etc attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting Gopal Roy said neither Trimool Congress nor the BJP can be the altertive to Left Front in Tripura. He claimed barring few constituencies Congress is still the second largest party in the state.
