Congress, UDP workers have joined BJP, claims party leader

FROM OUR REPORTER

SHILLONG, March 14: State BJP Mahila Morcha leader Pelcy Sitang on Monday said that 80 percent UDP workers, 30 percent Congress workers and some other political party workers have joined hands with BJP in Ranikor constituency during its meeting for change which was held at Rajapara polling station in South West Khasi Hills (SWKH) on March 10.

“The reason so many people have joined hands with us is due to the lackluster attitude of the Congress led government towards the constituency and the ineffectiveness of the Congress MLA Martin M Danggo, who has failed to bring development to the constituency despite being a representative of the people for the past 20 years,” Sitang told newsmen here on Monday.

State BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh and other senior leaders of the party were also present during the meeting.

Stating that the voice of the people in the region is to change Ranikor constituency, she said, “If you compare with other constituency in the state our constituency is the most backward in terms of development.”

She said the Congress has been in power in Meghalaya for the past many years but till date there is no development in the state, especially in Ranikor constituency.

“For the past 20 years the people have been electing the same MLA (Martin. M. Danggo), however when we look at development in the area, we see a completely bleak picture,” she said.

“We condemn this lackluster attitude of the congress led government towards Ranikor constituency,” she added.
