Congress victorious in North Guwahati civic polls

North Guwahati, February 12: For the third time, Congress emerged victorious in the civic polls conducted at North Guwahati. In Ward No. 1, Arup Das (Congress) defeated Champa Das (BJP), in Ward No. 2, Nirmali Das (Congress) defeated Mani Das (BJP), in Ward No. 3, Indu Baruah (Congress) defeated Sabita Medhi, and in Ward No. 4, Amulya Bora (Congress) defeated Ganesh Mallik(BJP). The influence of MLA Himanta Biswa Sarma has been proven by the results. In Palashbari, the Town Committee was formed by the BJP as it won six out of ten wards. The winners are Deepak Das (BJP) from Ward No. 1, Ranjit Kalita (independent) from Ward No. 2, Ratul Sharma (BJP) from Ward No. 3, Neerala Kalita (BJP) from Ward No.4, Pratibha Kalita (BJP) from Ward No. 5, Amiya Kumar Kalita (BJP) from Ward No. 6, Korobi Das (independent) from Ward No. 7, Binu Das (Congress) from Ward No. 8, Achyut Kumari (Congress) from Ward No.9 and filly Tulu Das (BJP) from Ward No. 10.
