Congress will be rooted out in Silchar civic polls, says Dilip Paul

SILCHAR, January 31: A clean, corruption free and vibrant Municipal Board is going to be formed here under BJP’s leaderships, said Dilip Kumar Paul, Silchar MLA.

 He told the reporters on Friday evening that the party has been receiving overwhelming responses from the people of this town and they would form the board this time.

 Dilip Paul said that for the last twelve years, the board was under the control of a family. Though he did not take anyone’s me, but he apparently tried to hit out at the Silchar MP Sushmita Dev and his father former Union minister Santosh Mohan Dev. It was first Bithika Dev, former Silchar MLA and wife of Santosh Mohan Dev, and then her daughter Sushmita Dev was the chairman of Silchar Municipal Board. After being elected as the Member of Parliament from Silchar last year, Sushmita Dev left the post of the chairman of Municipal Board.  Dilip Kumar Paul who won the last Assembly by–elections with a huge margin was confident to say that in this upcoming the Congress will be rooted out.  He alleged the involvement of former Congress ward commissioners in many scams and anomalies and the Board was itself made a hub of corruption.

 BJP has already announced the me Niharendra rayan Thakur, a veteran lawyer and a social activist, as the candidate for the post of chairmanship in Silchar Municipal Board.  Cachar BJP president Kaushik Rai said that the BJP had fielded candidates in all the 28 wards. Unlike yesteryear, the party had fielded candidate even in ward number 8. He said that the average of the candidates is 42 years and there is an amalgamation of senior and young people in the list. Rai said that they had laid stress on a few criterions in selecting the candidates for the Municipal Board.  

 Kaushik Rai also said that they are confident that BJP would form the Board in Lakhipur as well. He said they are united and there is no strife within the party.
