Congress workers protest against demonetization, LPG price hike

MARGHERITA, March 4: Ja Veda Panchayat against Prime Minister rendra Modi’s demonetization of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes was organized by Tinsukia District Congress Committee at Sadiya, Doomdooma, Tinsukia, Digboi and Margherita.

It was successful and common people supported the Ja Veda Panchayat, said Prabin Rajkhowa, general secretary and spokesperson of Tinsukia District Congress Committee. After the sudden decision to ban Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes by Prime Minister rendra Modi, the economic system of our country was paralyzed and businessmen, traders, farmers and common people suffered a lot. The GDP growth has come down and it will take many years to get stable, said Prabin Rajkhowa.

Again on Friday, members of Margherita Assembly Youth Congress Committee staged protest at Margherita Tea Estate Tiniali in protest against the price hike of LPG cylinder. The members of Margherita Assembly Youth Congress Committee shouted various slogans against Prime Minister rendra Modi and the BJP-led government. Suman Khalen and Alfaz Ahmed, president and general secretary of Margherita Assembly Youth Congress Committee, said that the BJP-led government both at the Centre and in the State had failed to fulfill the promises made during the election. Inflation, unemployment problem and black money were the major issues of the BJP at the time of election but after formation of government, all these issues have be neglected, said Suman Khalen.
