Congress workers stage protest against demonetization

 Haflong, Jan 7: Dima Hasao District Congress Committee organized a peaceful dhar against demonetization in front the office of the Deputy Commissioner on Saturday.

The dhar was one of the phase-wise protests against demonetization throughout the country.  The Congress has demanded white paper from the Prime Minister on demonetization. The programme was attended by the office bearers of the Dima Hasao District Congress Committee along with well-wishers of the Congress party.

 Hamjan Langthasa, vice-president, T Upadhaya and Nirmal Langthasa addressed the gathering. They strongly criticized demonetization, terming it as corruption. They also demanded an independent inquiry and compensation for the losses suffered by people due to demonetization. Later, they submitted a nine-page memorandum to the Prime Minister of India through the Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao.
