CONMAC 2015 gets under way in Guwahati

Guwahati, February 27: East India’s biggest exhibition of construction equipment organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) - CONMAC 2015 - was iugurated by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today. The three-day event is being held at Maniram Dewan Trade Centre.

The guest of honour at the event was Ajanta Neog, Minister for PWD, a press release stated.

With the objective of propelling sustaible infrastructure growth in the North-east region, the first edition of the premier event has seen the participation of over 120 exhibitors which include top tiol & and intertiol players. The exhibition will also feature conferences by CII & iCEMA along with numerous product launches and live demonstration of Advanced CE Technologies. Other dignitaries at the iugural session included Jitesh Khosla, Chief Secretary,  Sandipan Chakravortty, Chairman, CII, North-East Council, Glenville D’Silva, Chairman, CONMAC 2015, Vipin Sondhi, Chairman, EXCON 2015, And Sundaresan, VP, ICEMA and Abhijit Barooah, Co-Chairman, CII North East Council.

The Chief Minister released the CONMAC directory of exhibitors before formally iugurating the event amidst the assembled dignitaries, government delegates, executives and the media.

Speaking at the iugural function, Gogoi said, “Modern equipment technology and global best practices are needed in this region for speedy execution and sustaible infrastructure development. Events like these would help in exposing the region to the latest technology and set the base for skill development. The government is planning to set up equipment banks via the PPP model to make the new technologies accessible to the contractors. ”

PWD minister Ajanta Neog said, “CONMAC 2015 would be an ideal platform for the construction equipment industry to tap the huge business opportunities in the infrastructure sector in the North-East region. The exposure received would be of immense help to the contractors, entrepreneurs, students amongst others, provide newer opportunities to the local youth and further strengthen the efficiency of the infrastructure sector.”

In his key note address, Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla urged students from engineering and technical institutes across the region to visit the exhibition and get exposed to the latest trends in CE technology.

The event is being hosted by Government of Assam and partnered by DONER, NEC and the States of Aruchal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram and galand. It is supported by ICEMA and BAI.
