Conrad, Pala, Syiem meet NHIDCL officials

SHILLONG, July 25: Tura, Lok Sabha, Member of Parliament, Conrad K Sangma today met officials of the tiol Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL).

During the meeting, Sangma and the NHIDCL officials discussed on the twin tiol Highways traversing through Garo Hills region.

According to the Tura, MP, for the NH 51 from Tura to Dalu including Tura By pass, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been completed and is awaiting Social Impact Assessment from deputy commissioner.

“Work is to commence very soon,” Sangma said. The total cost of the project is 250 crore.

Meanwhile, for the NH 62 upto Dalu via Baghmara and Siju the DPR is being prepared and its total cost is Rs 950 crore.

Moreover, the Tura MP also informed that for the Baghmara to Ranikor stretch of road via Mahadeo and Maheshkola covering over 129 km, costing at Rs 1200 crore the project is at advanced stage and is now awaiting forest clearance.

The NHIDCL was set up by NDA 2 under the leadership of Prime Minister rendra Modi to take up infrastructure projects in North East.

The meeting was also attended by Shillong MP, Vincent H Pala and Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, Chief Executive Member, Pynshngainlang N Syiem.
