Conrad promises to articulate people's concerns

SHILLONG, May 22: Newly elected Tura Lok Sabha MP Conrad K Sangma today said that his victory is not an end in itself, but a beginning of a new journey.

“The journey is arduous, but together we can. We can scale the challenges and develop our beloved Garo Hills. We can surmount the problems, and turn them into opportunities,” Conrad said.

While seeking blessings from all concerned, Conrad said that as a young parliamentarian in the Lok Sabha, he assured that he will articulate the concerns, hopes and fears of the people of the region before the tiol leaders so that the problems will be addressed in the right earnest.

Conrad also termed his win as a victory for the people of Garo Hills, a victory of time-tested democratic values and a victory of optimism over pessimism.

“The people of Garo Hills had cast their vote in favour of change – a vote for positive change, a vote for development and progress,” Conrad said.

The Tura MP also solicited the cooperation and support of her opponent Dikkanchi D Shira in taking Garo Hills towards development and prosperity.

Meanwhile, Conrad also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister, rendra Modi and BJP tiol president Amit Shah for their support. He also thanked BJP leaders like Union Minister Jual Oram and lin Kohli for campaigning for him.

Conrad also appreciated the support of regiol parties like the United Democratic Party (UDP), Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), Garo tiol Council (GNC) and Khun Hynniewtrep tiol Awakening Movement (KHM).
