Conrad reviews implementation of schemes in East Garo Hills

SHILLONG, Dec 7:  Conrad K Sangma, MP, today convened a meeting of the District Development Coordition and Monitoring Committee (DISHA), at Williamgar Circuit House to review the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes in East Garo Hills District.

In the review meeting, Sangma informed that the meeting is being held every three months with a view to find ways to improve the system and to ensure the proper implementation of centrally sponsored schemes. Stressing on the need to sensitize the importance of MGNREGS mandates, Sangma also assured to take up the issues and problems relating to implementation of MGNREGS with the Union Ministry of Rural Development.

In the meeting, Songsak MLA, Nihim D Shira highlighted the problem relating to opening of bank accounts by the VEC Job Card holders and the MP assured to take up the issue with the regiol mager of the SBI and asked the bank officials to send proposal for opening of a small branch of the SBI at Do?bu. Reviewing the implementation of PMGSY, IAY, Agriculture, Horticulture, Soil and Water Conservation schemes, Conrad Sangma had given assurance to look into the late receipt of funds from the State Government.
