Constituency Magistrates, Zol Officers and Sector Officers appointed for polls in Jorhat

JORHAT, March 17: With a view to conduct free and fair and peaceful election in No. 97 Dergaon, No. 98 Jorhat and No. 102 Teok LAC, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Jorhat has appointed three Constituency Magistrates, nine Zol Officers and 59 Sector Officers for the ensuing Assam Assembly Election, 2016.

While Utpal Doley, Revenue Circle Officer, Jorhat West has been appointed as Constituency Magistrate for Dergaon LAC; Samiran Bora, CO, Jorhat East and Prabjit Kakoty, ADC cum CO i/c, Teok have been appointed for Jorhat and Teok LACs. The Constituency Magistrates are vested upon responsibility of the LAC segment in terms of conduct of poll, law and order maintence and strict observance of the Model Code of Conduct as prescribed by the Election Commission of India and will maintain close contact with Zol and Sector Officers.

For each constituency, three Zol Officers have been appointed. They will look after seven to nine sectors under each LAC. The will guide the sector officers in preparing route map, assessing requirement of vehicle, accommodation for overnight stay of polling parties and other welfare measures. The Zol Officers will further work with Sector Officers in carrying out vulnerability mapping in their area and to be more vigilant in the sensitive polling station area. They will ensure removal or white washing of posters, wall writings of election symbols and slogans by the political parties in consultation with the Constituency Magistrate.

The Sector Officers will physically verify the polling stations allotted to them and prepare report on condition of the building, availability of ramps and other facilities such as drinking water, toilets, furniture etc. They will keep close contact with Zol Magistrates, Police Officers, Officer-in-charge of Control Room, transport cell, Presiding and Polling Officers. On the day of poll, the Sector Officers will visit each and every polling station to see whether poll has started on time. The Sector Officers will pass on information to Election Control Room and to Zol Magistrates regarding starting of poll, voter turn-out and will immediately act on receipt of any information of shortfall/damage/defect of any election material in the polling station. They will lead the polling parties from the respective PS to the receiving counters and ensure that all the polling parties reach the receiving counters safely.
