Constitution Day observed in Hojai

GAON (HAIBORGAON), Nov 30:  A one-day knockout Hojai District Inter-College Badminton Competition was held at the Indoor Stadium of Haji Anfor Ali College recently.

Total six colleges of the district participated in that Men’s Doubles Badminton competition. The competition was iugurated by Dr. S. Lakshman, Deputy Commissioner, Hojai. A short iugural session was presided over by Dr. Mamun Azam Barbhuiya, the Principal of the college. Gracing the occasion as chief guest, Dr. Lakshman appealed to the student community to imbibe in them the sportsmanship spirit to combat the challenges before them. He then opened the badminton court for the competitors initiating the first round of the game.

At the end of the day-long competition, Udali College won the runners-up trophy and Haji Anfar Ali College won the champion trophy. Coinciding with the event, the Constitution Day was also observed in the auditorium hall under the aegis of Interl Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the College.

Dr. Sahab Uddin, Coorditor, IQAC, stated the objective of observing Sangvidhan Divas in order to pay homage to the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. BR Ambedkar. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lakshman encouraged the students to be responsible citizens of the tion, treasuring the values of the Constitution. Prof. zrul Hussain in his speech spoke about the drafting and the subsequent adoption of the Indian Constitution on the same day in 1949. Dr. Mamun Azam Barbhuiya urged upon all those present to take a pledge to protect the dignity of the Constitution.
