FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

SILCHAR, June 2: A memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar recently for the construction of Kakpur-Rangirkhari road, also known as Gopal Akhra road by Kak Sangha and Jakalyan Samity. The Kakpur-Rangirkhari road, which is presently in a dilapidated condition, is used by daily around ten thousand people residing in Kakpur part-II, Bakashar Mukam, Berenga and Barjurai. Notably, Radha Madhab Degree College, Tarani Mohan Das Lashkar Academy High School and a primary school are located in the area.

Besides, this road is the shortest route for reaching Silchar Medical College and Hospital for the people of the area. But, the condition of the road, over a period of time due to lack of proper maintence, has become so bad that the common people are suffering from problems everyday as there are big potholes which may lead to any accident during peak hours.

The Kak Sangha urged upon the Deputy Commissioner to take immediate steps to construct the Kakpur-Rangirkhari road for the greater interest of the people of the area as well as for the benefits of the students of the academic institutions of the locality. The memorandum was signed by Pradip Kumar Das, president of Kak Sangha, Rajib Ahmed Choudhury, president of Jakalyan Samity, along with others.
